During the Day of the Devs 2024: Summer Game Fest and Future Games Show, we got a new look at the unique platformer game Screenbound. This innovative game offers a unique experience by merging 2D and 3D worlds, challenging the limits of your perception and your ability to think in multiple dimensions.
Enter the unique world of Screenbound, where Quantum boy (Qboy) transports you into a peculiar dual-dimensional space occupying 5D = 3D + 2D. You move in first-person while simultaneously playing a retro-style game on the screen of your Qboy. Environmental puzzles will force you to test the boundaries of dimensional space. Your jumps and movements are meaningful, but certain actions affect the opposite dimension. Combat takes place in 2D, while you collect your loot in 3D.
The game also includes a level editor, where you can create your own 2D levels, and the game will automatically generate the corresponding 3D level for you. Although it still doesn't have a concrete release date, Screenbound will be available for PC via Steam.
