Relic Entertainment, the developer behind this iconic PC strategy game, is preparing plenty of new content in two weeks. You'll soon be able to explore two long-awaited civilizations, with new biomes, maps, civilization variations, a campaign, and unlockable treasures in The Sultans Ascend DLC.
The first civilization added is the mighty Byzantines. Use the power of olive oil, a unique resource of this civilization, and they are known for recruiting mercenaries and using devastating Greek fire in battle. Their defensive structures, including Mangonel Emplacement, provide solid defense against enemy forces. Also, by building buildings, you provide additional quantities of stone, which contributes to the growth and prosperity of the empire.
Japanese civilization boasts unstoppable soldiers such as samurai, shinobi, bannermen and Onna-Musha. Their city center receives powerful Daimyo upgrades during the Imperial Age, while their castles are equipped with destructive missile emplacements. Japan's economic power will shine, as you get bonuses on certain resources while collecting gold or stone.
Along with the two new civilizations, four civilization variants will join the ranks. The Ayyubids add a camel-centric twist to the Abbasid dynasty, while Jeanne d'Arc becomes the heroine of French civilization. The Holy Roman Empire transforms into the Order of the Dragon, with elite gilded units. Zhu Xi's Legacy modifies the bonuses and landmarks of the Chinese Dynasty, emphasizing long-term economic efficiency. The Sultans Ascend offers ten new map types to add variety to your battles, accompanied by two new biomes: a Japanese spring biome adorned with cherry blossom trees, and an African savannah biome of grassy plains and acacia trees.
It also adds a campaign where you lead the Muslim resistance in the Middle East during the European Crusades. Discover the heroic stories of historical leaders who stood up to the Holy Templars, Hospitallers, Teutons and Mongols. These adventures are accompanied by numerous achievements and masteries, with a focus on the Byzantine and Japanese civilizations.
Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend will be available on Steam and the Xbox Store on Tuesday, November 14, for €14.99.
