Prison Architect 2 has been delayed again. The upcoming sequel to the prison simulation is now set to arrive this fall after unexpected issues have once again occurred, which are apparently appearing more and more frequently. It was originally supposed to come out in March of this year, then it was pushed to May, and now it should arrive on September 3rd.

In a press release today, game publisher Paradox Interactive reported that they have noticed memory usage issues affecting the game's stability. Although the version of the game is ready for use on all platforms, they decided to delay the release to ensure that the game arrives in the best possible condition. They obviously want to avoid the Cities: Skylines 2 scenario as much as possible.

"Recently, we ran some stability tests on our latest version of the game and noticed unexpected issues occurring too often, especially on low specs configurations. Once we identified the issue, we started working on improving Prison Architect 2's memory usage to mitigate the situation. Overall, the work has been successful, and we have seen improvements on lower-spec machines and consoles," said Paradox and added:

"Unfortunately, with such a rework some new technical challenges emerged, as the amount of crashes increased noticeably on other PC configurations. We immediately started tackling them, but this took away time from our main goal during this last phase of development, as we had to move resources from polishing the game to addressing the crashes. While we currently have a version of the game certified on all platforms and are ready to release, this new memory usage system will significantly improve the game experience," concluded Paradox.

As a reminder, this sequel will provide advanced simulation systems that allow us to create complex structures with a high level of creative freedom within a 3D environment. From building sophisticated structures to managing the needs of inmates and maintaining the institution's financial stability, Prison Architect 2 also expands the gameplay experience by offering an engaging sandbox mode.
