Director of Future Friend Games, Alex Fairwood, noted that Summerhouse has attracted significant organic interest, fueled by YouTube and Twitch videos, positive reviews from critics, and referrals from players. As a result, 65% of the visits to the game page at launch came from Steam's New & Trending and Discovery queues.

According to GameDiscoverCo's Summerhouse overlaps with indie titles such as Unpacking, Townscaper, Dorfromantik and Islanders. Currently, Summerhouse has an “overwhelmingly positive” rating on Steam, with 96% of 973 user reviews being positive. Players often describe the game as “relaxing” and “enjoyable,” which sums up the overall experience well since Summerhouse has no limits, points, or other complex elements.
