The mysterious Triple-i initiative from indie developers has appeared

It looks like a group of independent studios have decided to team up in a mysterious collaboration. The so-called Triple-i Initiative brings together the studios behind games like Vampire Survivors, Darkest Dungeon, Slay the Spire and others.

Poncle, the creator of Vampire Survivors, was among the first people to announce the Triple-i Initiative on social media (which was first noticed by GamingOnLinux ). The post included a link to the official website. The site currently only has a timer ticking down until the next announcement, scheduled for March 28.

The term "Triple-i" apparently stands for "triple indie," an informal expression used to describe independent games of high quality, occasionally with larger budgets and seasoned developers on their teams. It often contrasts with the AAA sector of the industry, which typically includes projects exceeding $100 million from major studios and publishers.

Lacking substantial details, it's challenging to determine its nature. Essentially, it could include various possibilities: a publishing entity, a funding platform aiding indie developers in securing investments, a consultancy firm, a coalition of aligned developers or a combination of everything mentioned.

It can even be a big organization that will advocate better conditions for indie developers in the game market, trying to help them create independent projects. Regardless, more information will be revealed in two weeks. Alongside Poncle, the Triple-i Initiative includes additional noteworthy indie developers and publishers, many of whom have shared their messages or reposted the official announcement:

  • Stunlock Studios (V Rising)
  • Mega Crit (Slay the Spire)
  • Evil Empire (Dead Cells)
  • The Gentlebros (Cat Quest)
  • Red Hook Studios (Darkest Dungeon)
  • Matt Dabrowski (Streets of Rogue)
  • Pathea Games (My Time at Sandrock)
  • Thunder Lotus (33 Immortals)
  • Awaceb (Tchia)
  • Digital Sun (Moonlighter)
  • Passtech igre (Curse of the Dead Gods, Ravenswatch)
  • Assemble Entertainment (publisher of Endzone, Lacuna, Roadwarden)
  • Hooded Horse (publisher of Manor Lords, Against the Storm, Xenonauts 2)
  • Ghost Ship Publishing (the publishing house of the creators of Deep Rock Galactic).

The list includes studios of diverse sizes and levels of experience. It's worth mentioning that some of the mentioned studios aren't entirely independent.
