Today, publisher Private Division and developer Weta Workshop finally fully revealed the game set in the Middle-Earth universe, Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, which will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam this fall.

Fans of pleasant, relaxing and cozy games, get ready because Tales of the Shire is coming this fall. As we already announced, this title is being developed by New Zealand special effects and props company Wētā Workshop, known for their work on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The game will allow you to create and personalize your own Hobbit, decorate your home, explore the Bywater and enjoy relaxing activities like cooking, fishing, foraging and gardening.

Bywater was a village in Westfarthing Shire, north of the East Road. It housed the Green Dragon Inn, and its residents included the Cotton family and Old Noakes. As known from the books, the Shire was taken over by Saruman's army, leaving many houses in Bywater empty and some even burned. But after the return of Frodo and his companions, Bywater became the epicenter of the rebellion, culminating in the Battle of Bywater and the liberation of the Shire. It is very likely that the story of this game takes place before the rebellion itself. The village is also mentioned in the game The Lord of the Rings Online, and it is not yet clear what the combat will look like in Tales of the Shire.

The whole game is decorated with a calm and fantastic atmosphere, where you will design your own home and arrange the space without restrictions, adjusting the home decor to your taste. You will participate in harvesting seasonal crops and flowers as time passes on your estate, exploring the kitchen and demonstrating your culinary skills with a variety of recipes. As things stand, it will be important to build relationships with others through shared meals that you prepare yourself.

Also, Shire exploration is emphasized, indicating the vastness of the area we will explore. In addition to regular activities, seasonal surprises await us, probably related to the changes of the seasons or famous festivals. Apparently the game will include familiar characters and hobbit families that we will meet to improve skills, clothes, homes and more. Status in the village will be important, and there are various main and side missions to help you progress.

“We're excited to give players the chance to live out their fantasy of living their own humble hobbit life in the Shire. Tales of the Shire brings an enjoyable new dimension to the way fans can experience Middle-earth, with plenty of relaxing Hobbit-centric gameplay to win over newcomers to the genre.”
