Developer Memo Gogo and publisher Thermite Games announced their charming hand-painted hidden object game, Sophia the Traveler, as part of today's Day of the Devs: The Game Awards Edition 2023 event, marked by a sparkling new trailer and exclusive demo.

Inspired by the famous series of puzzle books "Where's Wally?", Sophia the Traveler provides a unique gaming experience, where every corner of the screen is like a canvas waiting to be explored. This magical adventure invites players on a journey through massive, hand-crafted maps that bring Venice's color and charm to life.

The game features 10 distinct stages, each offering a rich array of resources that breathe life into virtual Venice. With over 1800 meticulously crafted characters, 300+ character animation sets, and more than 100 animation sequences, it delivers an unparalleled gaming experience. Noteworthy is its portrayal of over 100 European buildings, encompassing 8 iconic Venetian landmarks, accompanied by almost 300 thoughtfully integrated sound effects to vividly capture the essence of Venice.

A couple in love who never visited Venice in person created the game Sophia the Traveler using travelogues and data from Google Maps to faithfully recreate the entire city:

"Venice has always been a city of romance in our heart. Our dream of visiting never materialized, but the fascination with Venice only grew stronger. To create this game, we spent three years virtually exploring every inch of Venice through Google Maps and travel books. Now, with Sophia as our guide, we aim to capture Venice's essence—its love for life, music, and exquisite food—allowing players to experience the city's magic firsthand, even if they haven't had the chance to visit."

Sofia the Traveler is due out next year on PC via Steam and on Nintendo Switch.
