Award-winning Polish studio and publisher Different Tales has announced Our Life on Water, a magical RPG life simulation inspired by floating villages on the Mekong River. As players, we will step into the shoes of a Rivertalker, befriending the spirits of the river in order to restore and protect a community that has been shattered by the modern world.
Faced with the growing dangers of the modern world, the water town of Rivertalker will be forced to turn to the river spirits, along with Yla the talking otter, to save the settlement. Because you live on the water, you'll embrace a simple life filled with daily tasks like boating, fishing, diving, raising animals, and more. You'll form friendships with the locals, discover love, and often face challenging moral decisions to shape the story.
Explore a monsoon landscape inspired by Cambodian and Vietnamese floating villages with a touch of magical realism, and travel by boat, swim and dive to find mystical artifacts. In addition, explore the history of a place where modern life confronts the indigenous population, and where both the environment and cultural identity are threatened, and your choices will affect the village and its inhabitants.
Our Life on Water is being developed and will be published by Different Tales for PC via Steam in 2024. The announcement was made during the Golden Joystick Awards ceremony in London.
