The developer behind Dead Cells, Motion Twin, has released the first gameplay trailer for Windblown, its upcoming roguelike action game due out in early access for PC via Steam later in 2024.

In Windblown, players will travel through vast, ever-changing islands in the sky while using a variety of powerful weapons to defeat the Sentinels – the deadly servants of the Vortex that threaten their home. Movement is simple but precise, with quick jumps between floating islands and platforms. From the first jump into the autumn biome, players will face numerous opponents as they collect various weapons, artifacts, gifts and fish to help unlock their Leaper's full potential.

You will have at your disposal a diverse arsenal of weapons that you can use to customize your expeditions into the unknown. Whether they're found in hidden treasures or dropped after defeating bosses, each weapon has its own strengths that should be considered when crafting your ideal playstyle. Special attacks called Crystallize can also be used to destroy enemies with powerful finishers that charge up energy and provide bigger rewards.

During your adventure, you can discover fish with really helpful abilities that will definitely impact the Sentinels. For instance, the Gobbling Fish can jump straight and swallow an enemy it touches. These fish take a while to recharge between uses, so they become even more powerful when teamed up with other Leapers in online co-op play, where each player can use their special fish ability at the right time.
