French developer Bread Panda has unveiled their upcoming roguelike action game, AVA and the Half-World, which will be available on PC via Steam, although the release date has yet to be announced.
In AVA and the Half-World, you are invited to explore a horizon filled with forgotten myths, sunken relics, and mysterious creatures. The game is set in the Sidereal Riptide, a dark and expansive body of water dotted with infinite drifting islands. You will take on the role of AVA, a character born in the heart of the Sidereal Riptide, who is destined to vanish along with the rest of the world. The journey involves facing the wind, sailing onward, and anchoring on any found land to defeat enemies and collect artifacts and knowledge.
Each expedition in AVA and the Half-World is unique, with a clearer path and the Riptide evolving to reveal new uncharted islands. The game combines the satisfaction of a 2D shooter with rewarding exploration and the endless possibilities characteristic of roguelite games. You will traverse hand-crafted environments filled with various events and challenging encounters.
AVA is a nimble fighter capable of flying and handling multiple weapons with unique behaviors. For example, you will defy gravity through intense encounters, running, flying, and aiming to defeat waves of enemies. Throughout the journey, you will collect artifacts, choosing which to keep and which to return to the Riptide. You will gather weapons, relics, and catalysts to forge your own fighting style and measure up against dozens of ruthless bosses.
