River Towns is a game that combines Tetris and city-builder elements with a relaxing atmosphere

"We're going to combine Tetris and city-builder games," said Frogsong Studios. During the Nordic Game Spring 2024 event, many people showed interest in the game River Towns for a reason. Although it still doesn't have its own page on Steam, we already had a chance to try out this intriguing title. The concept is very simple, but very addictive - you build beautiful cities along the river, combine different shapes and rebuild a broken world.

Your goal is to collect as many points as possible to win stars and progress through the diverse world, making it more beautiful with each step. As in Tetris, the buildings are shaped in different ways: cubes, odd shapes and flat tiles. This allows strategic placement of buildings and keeping the space open for new constructions. We played one smaller level where a river divided the area and your task was to build buildings of one color on one side and buildings of a different color on the opposite side. Also, the gold deposits that covered part of the area made construction even more difficult, requiring you plan carefully.

One of the most striking features of the game is the huge world you can explore, each part with unique challenges. The game also allows you rotate buildings and the ability to zoom in on them, allowing you to keep a closer eye on what's going on inside and outside of your cities. Additionally, the graphics are vibrant, colorful and pleasant, making each district unique. This title looks like another enjoyable adventure that you definitely don't want to miss.

It's especially interesting to watch the world change as you build; bridges are constructed when you place districts along rivers, the landscape changes, and trees and building shapes evolve with multiple objects placed next to each other. In fact, with such a dynamic environment, the game provides a deep and satisfying building experience. We recommend that you follow the studio's X (formerly Twitter) to stay up to date with new features and updates to the game.

This approach to design and gameplay makes River Towns unique and attractive to all fans of strategic city-builder games, as well as those who enjoy cozy games without too much stress. We expect the game to attract a large number of players as soon as it becomes available on Steam, so be sure to keep an eye on it.
