[Preview] Super Farming Boy

Share:

Super Farming Boy is an exciting mix of action, puzzle, and farming sim, heavily relying on chain reactions and combos. We really LOVED this game, it was unique, easy to play, easy to understand and offers tons of good replayabale content. In fact, we were stunned how much the demo has, offering a lot more than we were expecting.

In Super Farming Boy, you assume the role of Super, whose mom and friends have been captured by the evil nemesis, KORPO®©TM. Unlawfully hiring you to work on your own land, Korpo taxes all proceeds for himself. Now, with your friends and mom up for sale, you must harvest your way through some wacky challenges, saving enough to rescue them back. There is plenty of comedy and humor throughout the game, and it seems that KORPO may be much more powerful than it initially appears.

What makes this game special is that it lacks traditional tools because you are the tool. With a simple button press, you can transform into a shovel, hammer, pickaxe, watering can, and even gain the ability to fly. As mentioned already, the game’s primary mechanic revolves around triggering chain reactions and combos with magical seed creatures, each having unique paths and patterns for executing combos. Experimenting with it is quite fun, and creating the best combos is crucial. Whether it’s tomato, potato, or anything else, there are many different things to try.

The game is saved by your ability to fly, eliminating the need to walk across the entire land. However, frequent loading screens can be a bit annoying as you travel between areas to gather seeds, food for energy, and unlock new items. You can unlock and upgrade SuperTools through old-school superhero trading cards, which is probably my favorite part of the game due to the excellent replayability and the abundance of items to unlock. Additionally, earning money is easy, so grinding doesn’t feel tedious.

There will be different types of seasons, which were not available in the demo, but we did get a glimpse of rescue pets from KORPO, each providing unique farm automation mechanics. There is no need for inventory management, as all seeds and helpers follow you, making farming hassle-free. Even after reaching a certain level of automation, there is still plenty to do and always something to improve upon.

Additionally, you can personalize your BlobHouse with decorative items, making it uniquely yours. You can also defend your farm using combo and chain reaction powers against various evil creatures in upcoming boss fights. The day and night cycle adds an interesting twist, as you are forced to sleep because dealing with enemies is more challenging at night. Even if you die, the game won’t punish you severely, only causing you to lose a few coins.

What really surprised us is the intuitive touch controls for drag-and-drop functionality, with support for XBOX/PS or Bluetooth controllers, so you don’t necessarily need to play with the keyboard. You can just relax and also play with your mouse, making the experience even more enjoyable. The whole point of this game is its replayability. It aims to stay engaging and prevent boredom, and we’re excited to see what the full version will offer.

Super Farming Boy will be available for Early Access in Q2 2025 on Steam/Epic Games Store.
