Studio Impossible announced that their debut release, Été, will be coming to Steam on July 23, as part of the Wholesome Direct 2024. Été, pronounced /ay·tay/ and French for “summer,” is a relaxing painting game designed for those who love exploration and creativity.

You will step into the shoes of a budding painter who travels to Montreal for the summer. With a paintbrush in hand, you can freely explore the city, capturing its everyday wonders on canvas. The game also allows you to befriend locals by fulfilling their inspiring commissions or prepare an original expo in your very own art studio.

Everything discovered while exploring, from flowers to birds, is added to an album, an ever-growing compendium of stamps that can be mixed and matched in artworks. Creating artworks on canvas is effortless with Été’s unique canvas system, allowing you to add any stamp collected in the album to your composition, which can be moved, resized, recolored, and spun around in 3D.

Été also allows you to decorate your studio and apartment, building your ideal creative nook by collecting furniture and arranging it with the game’s flexible decoration system. Decorations can be placed precisely where you want them, combined into complex set pieces, and even recolored. As you grow as artists, accumulate droplets of paint as experience, which can be used to level up and upgrade exploration abilities.

The game emphasizes befriending neighbors, as you meet dozens of locals with colorful personalities. Some neighbors have paid commissions for you to fulfill, while others run unique shops where you can spend the hard-earned money on decorations. Été is designed to be a deeply relaxing game with no failure and no pressure. There is no time limit, no wrong way to paint, and no specific order in which to explore or complete quests.
