[UPDATE] Next Nintendo Direct is apparently scheduled for June 11

A insider known in the Spanish gaming community, MrDry, has revealed on Twitter that the next Nintendo Direct is scheduled for June 11. MrDry has a credible track record, having accurately predicted several gaming industry events before they were widely reported. His previous insights have included information on Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and Resident Evil, lending credence to his current claim.

[UPDATE] As it stands, it appears that the Nintendo Direct will not take place tomorrow. According to the latest information, even the well-known insider Pyoro has no updates about the upcoming Nintendo Direct. His response was a follow-up to the X post by MrDry.

For context: The last June Directs held early in the month and on a Tuesday were the 2018, 2019, and 2021 E3 Directs (2020 doesn't count due to the pandemic). For the past two years, the June Direct has been on a Wednesday during the latter half of the month. However, this doesn't necessarily mean it will be this Wednesday, as Nintendo has only revealed that we can expect the Direct sometime this month.

The latter half of the month is tricky, though. The final week is likely out due to the release of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and Juneteenth (a national independence day, a federal holiday in the United States) being in the middle of the week could rule out both the 19th and the 20th. Leaks are not pointing towards this week at all, but it remains the most likely week unless Nintendo intends on breaking from recent trends. Last summer, the Direct was 10 days after the Xbox show. Therefore, it's reasonable to consider next week as a possibility.

Historically, Nintendo has favored scheduling their Direct presentations on the Tuesday following other major gaming showcases. If MrDry’s information is accurate, this will be the third time a Nintendo Direct falls on June 11 when it coincides with a Tuesday, the previous instances being in 2013 and 2019. The event is expected to start at 9 AM PT, following the usual pattern.

The anticipation for this Direct is high, as there is little known about Nintendo’s upcoming game lineup beyond the release of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD. Rumors circulating within the gaming community suggest several possible announcements, including Metroid Prime 4, a new Donkey Kong game, various Zelda titles, and a Fire Emblem 4 remake. Additionally, there is speculation about potential remasters, such as F-Zero GX and the Metroid Prime series.

One of the more intriguing rumors is related to a project codenamed by Midori, hinting at a new game from NDcube, which is known for developing Mario Party games. Given the three-year release cycle of mainline Mario Party games, a new installment could very well be announced, marking three years since the release of Mario Party Superstars.
