Manor Lords reached 2 million copies sold in just three weeks

Apparently indie games are more successful than AAA titles this year. While Sony and Xbox are in deep trouble, smaller publishers like Hooded Horse are free to take a vacation because of their medieval game Manor Lords.

Their game Manor Lords is currently one of the best selling titles of the year. Additionally, prior to its release, this city-builder was the most desired title on Steam, with more than 3 million people waiting for its release. It sold a million copies on Steam in just one week, and as things stand, it recently reached 2 million copies sold.

Why is this significant? Manor Lords set the bar high for city-builder games this year, especially impressive because it was developed by just "one" developer. Hooded Horse CEO, Tim Bender, stated that the game exceeded all their expectations. Although the team was optimistic after player feedback, they did not expect to sell 2 million copies.

Also, Manor Lords achieved a higher concurrent player peak than other strategy games such as Total War: Warhammer 3 and Civilization VI. However, the publisher points out that the team would be satisfied with only half of the achieved success. For the less informed, Manor Lords has attracted over 170k players on Steam, surpassing most of this year's titles so far. In the last 24 hours, the game was played simultaneously by more than 20 thousand players.
