League of Geeks Announces Hiatus Amidst Economic Challenges

Share:

In a heartfelt blog post, the co-founders of League of Geeks, Ty Carey, Trent Kusters, and Blake Mizzi, have announced that the studio behind the beloved digital board game Armello will be going on a hiatus for the foreseeable future. This decision comes as the gaming industry grapples with economic difficulties, which have significantly impacted the studio’s operations and future plans.

Solium Infernum, which was released in February to critical acclaim, will continue to receive support in the form of bug fixes and minor content updates. However, the co-founders made it clear that “its sales revenue cannot fund further active development or DLC.” Despite the game’s positive reception, the financial return has not been sufficient to justify extensive ongoing development.

Another title from League of Geeks, Jumplight Odyssey, faced a particularly tough journey. Initially released in Early Access, the game was put on hold indefinitely in December, just a few months after its debut. The co-founders revealed that Jumplight Odyssey has not secured the necessary investment to continue its development. Nevertheless, they plan to bring the game out of Early Access within the next year, but not as the fully realized version they had originally envisioned. The team will strive to complete the game with the limited resources available.

Fans of Armello can rest assured that the game will continue to be available online. Moreover, the plans for the Armello board game remain unaffected by these changes, as it is being handled by King of the Castle Games. This ensures that Armello‘s legacy will continue, even as its digital development takes a backseat.

The post also paid tribute to Adam Duncan, a founding member of League of Geeks, who passed away recently. His contributions to the studio and the gaming community have left an indelible mark, and his loss is deeply felt by his colleagues and fans.
