Gilded Destiny is a mix of Victoria and Civilization games

Aquila Interactive is about to launch Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for their upcoming project Gilded Destiny. It is a grand strategy title that shows the transformative era of the industrial revolution. You will take the helm of a country of your choice and transform it from a backward agrarian society to an industrially developed country.

Gilded Destiny might evoke parallels with Paradox Interactive's Victoria series, showcasing a profound simulation of economy, warfare, and diplomacy. Alternatively, it may draw comparisons to the Civilization franchise, thanks to the hexagonal map division and the construction mechanics. Taking place in the 19th century, the game features various biomes, terrains, and weather patterns that authentically mirror the real-world conditions of that era.

It brings with it a complex global simulation of supply and demand, enriched with a wide range of production and factories, and complex development mechanics that include provincial resources, the construction of cities and factories. Unlike usual geopolitical strategy simulations (GSG), the physical location of buildings plays a key role during gameplay. Additionally, it stands out for its realistic simulation of population, culture, migration, assimilation and career change, which reflects the significant social changes of that time.

Similar to Victoria 3, your objective is to shape the leading policy of your country in alignment with your vision, encompassing economic, labor, social, diplomatic, and military policies that lie within your control. Furthermore, you will influence important decisions that can shape your country. This entails situations where you may need to suppress a domestic workers' strike while concurrently engaging in warfare with neighboring countries. Moreover, the paused real-time gameplay ensures a lot of time for thoughtful consideration of each decision.

In order to progress further, it is essential to discover revolutionary technological achievements and research. You have the freedom to rename each country, province and even city to your liking, adapting them to your alternate history scenario. When starting the game, you can even create your own country and design your own flag right in the game.

As players, you will take direct control of military units. Although artificial intelligence will automate many routine aspects of warfare, you will always have the ability to issue orders to selected soldiers. Controlling key rail or transit hubs will be of utmost logistical importance to your industrial production and war-fighting ability.

Most of the content is directly modifiable, giving you a great degree of freedom to remake the game according to your imagination. Additionally, mods will be supported through the Steam Workshop. Gilded Destiny will be available on Steam sometime this year.
