Football Manager 2024 breaks new ground for the franchise with an improved match engine and gameplay experience

Football Manager 2024 will soon appear on all current consoles, PC and mobile phones. The release date is scheduled for October 6th, and we've been able to play this title in early access for two weeks already, which has created a certain amount of hype, as FM24 promises a lot, offers an improved and immersive in and out field experience, and whether it will realize all its potential, we will see after the official launch. Although this iteration is the last in a series before the expected Dragonfly project, which will bring a major overhaul for the franchise, with a new engine and a large number of changes, FM24 will surprise you with significant upgrades to the match engine and gameplay mechanics.

Sports Interactive, the developer behind the game, introduced a revolutionary "motion-matching" system that increases the authenticity of the action on the field. This system seamlessly incorporates animations from the game's database, resulting in smoother player transitions and more realistic movements without the ball. Additionally, an updated ball physics system adds realism to effects such as friction, spin and kick deflection, leading to unpredictable moments during matches.

FM24 also comes with improved graphics, including improved lighting and sharper textures. While the game's visual fidelity may not measure up to state-of-the-art standards, its fluid gameplay this year more than compensates for any shortcomings. Game mechanics have also attracted attention, with the introduction of positional play and inverted full backs. This innovation allows certain players, such as advanced playmakers, to adjust their positions while in possession, increasing passing opportunities and facilitating smooth ball progression. On the other hand, inverted full backs take on a more central defensive role when their team is in possession. Sports Interactive took Manchester City's Kyle Walker as an example, although on paper he plays as a right-back, he takes on a third central defender role while occasionally going forward.

Furthermore, Football Manager 2024 introduces two important quality of life features. First, players can now transfer their save files from FM23 to FM24, allowing for seamless continuity in their managerial careers. Second, the game offers players three starting options: original, real world, and your world, each providing unique gameplay scenarios and challenges. For example, in the real world, transfers will be completed at the moment they happened in real life, so Jude Bellingham will not be right at the start of your career in Real Madrid, but later.

The Japanese league is also returning with licensed players and clubs, and the way transfers take place will be improved with the help of the Transfer Room and intermediaries. For example, if you want to sell one of your players, but their agent is not cooperating or the offers do not meet your expectations, you can hire an intermediary to help you facilitate the sale of the player. This is only a part of what FM24 has to offer, in fact there are a lot of new changes and features, however, perhaps it's best to judge for yourself what this game is like once you've successfully played a full season.
