On Tuesday, the Nordic Game Spring 2024 officially started in Malmö, Sweden, an event where over a hundred gaming studios will present their projects. Besides games, various AI projects and MeetToMatch, a business matchmaking service facilitating meetings and networking within the video game industry, was also present. The event will last until Friday, and below we provide an overview of how the first day went.

Before the Speed Pitches on the Dev Showcase stage, the introductory part was prepared by Mighty Diamonds, a collective of experienced consultants from all over the world, all passionate about video games and ready to share their expertise with studios and publishers. Today, Vivy Zhao, Gregory Queste, Patrick Rose and André Persson talked about topics such as how indie developers can reach audiences, using social media, funding and marketing for games, the popularity of games like Vampire Survivors and Lethal Company, the differences between indie developers and AAA games, and accessibility for audiences, including controllers and game duration.

During the Speed Pitches, developers had only one minute to present their game, so we saw more than thirty games and other various projects. We've seen titles like Machine Match, Last Spartan: Glory Over Madness, Altered Alma, Map Map – A Game About Maps, Blood Bar Tycoon, REPLICORE and many more. Also, at the developer showcase, whose booths were scattered throughout Slagthuset, there were even more games to try. Among others, there is Anima Flux, Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef, Red Metal, Hollow Home and Supermoves, so everyone could find something for themselves.

Besides the highly professional and enjoyable ambiance and interesting photographs, the Nordic Games demonstrated why it remains one of the best events in Europe. Wednesday promises a wealth of new panels, speakers, and gaming experiences. For instance, tomorrow, attendees can delve into topics such as "Navigating The Maze Of Game Discoverability," led by André Persson and Gregory Queste, or join the "Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor – Fireside Chat" featuring Anders Leicht Rohde, Mikkel Martin Pedersen, and Søren Lundgaard.

We're in for an exciting week ahead, and you can find photos from the first day below.
