In DataJack 2020, you play as a mercenary and trickster in a dystopian, neon-lit environment, working for megacorporations or criminal syndicates. You participate in their wars, executing various tasks such as sabotage, assassinations, infiltrations, and espionage.
DataJack 2020 emphasizes player choices, with connected systems that simulate everyday life in the game world. Missions can focus on stealth, infiltration, lockpicking, manipulation of security systems and electronics, and ultimately successful escape with loot. However, when the situation escalates, you can rely on your arsenal and the environment to react to your actions.
A large number of NPC guards that you can find in Datajack cooperate, following you carefully and communicating with each other. You will have to take care of their reactions and mood swings. If you remain unrecognized, you can talk your way out of trouble using different tactics and information.
Every mission in Datajack 2020 begins with a planning phase. There you will analyze schemes, choose entry and exit, plan a route and decide whether it will be a stealth infiltration or an all-out attack. Developer Epic Banana promises a variety of options, including infiltrations from the sewers or arriving by helicopter on the roof.
DataJack 2020 was revealed during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted event, and will be released on PC via Steam.
