City-builder & management game Republic of Pirates releases in mid-June

The pirate-themed city-builder and real-time strategy game Republic of Pirates is coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store on June 19. Although there is a long pedigree of pirates in the history of PC gaming, this revelation is more like Anno 1800 than games like Sea of Thieves or classics like Sid Meier's Pirates.

Instead of fighting other pirate captains or committing war crimes, Republic of Pirates will allow you to build a pirate empire. Following the standards of the city-builder genre, you'll plan what and where to build, optimize resources, manage the job allocation of your workers, and try to meet the needs of an ever-growing population. You will also expand to new islands and take over other settlements for resources.

In the game, you will be able to command a fleet of ships, participate in real-time strategic combat and use the tactical map to plan and execute your next attack. You will have to confront enemy fleets and bombard their harbor defenses to conquer other islands in the open ocean. You can also accept orders to collect bounties or attack specific settlements as part of your expansion during campaign play.

To celebrate Steam Next Fest, players will be able to get their hands on an exclusive demo created especially for the event, covering the first 3 hours of the main campaign. Here you will establish your first settlement on a remote island in the Caribbean, while your faithful companion, John Artley, will act as your guide. John will teach all the main game mechanics and systems, introduce your allies, and track your quests and story-based objectives.

In the full version, you can expect more than 30 hours of content, eight unique ship classes, the ability to recruit captains and improve their skills to unlock new specializations and combat tactics, and 100 different buildings.
