Solo developer Eigen Lenk brings us an intriguing puzzle game, Cats on Broombas, which takes us through an adventure with cats, where we will collect stars and various other collectibles. We played the demo version and here are our first impressions.

It is an MS-DOS puzzle game with EGA graphics in which the goal is to place objects or obstacles on the playground, i.e. in the house of the boy Billy, who wants to create a maze in order to guide the Broombas (cats standing on a robot vacuum cleaner) in collecting all the stars. However, the game is not that simple. Cats move in different ways, bumping into obstacles and using them to find alternative routes. They can also push balls and perform other actions. It is important that you carefully choose where to place the items in order to successfully collect all the stars.

Arrows mark the path the cat takes, while outside the play area you can find useful objects such as boxes, chairs, flowers and bottles, each with its own properties and role in solving the puzzle. As you progress through the levels, the challenges become more complex, but the game also offers a tutorial to familiarize you with its mechanics.

Of course, there are hints, but they are limited in time and in the amount of use, which varies in each episode. The time limit forces quick thinking and analysis of the playing field to find optimal solutions, encouraging you to try your best to solve the puzzle before giving up. Additionally, there is a level editor that allows you to create your own puzzles, and the ability to share your creations through the Workshop would further enrich the gaming experience.

The demo version includes a large number of levels, as many as 40, while pleasant music will accompany you through the game, along with the narration of the boy Billy who shares his stories. Although a full release date for Cats on Broombas has not yet been set, you can try the demo version of the game on Steam platform.
