Turn-based strategy game Ara: History Untold will launch for PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on September 24, as announced by publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Oxide Interactive. It will also be available via PC Game Pass.

Although the release date is not far off, and we recently received the announcement of Civilization VII after many years, we can safely say that Ara: History Untold might be one of the biggest competitors to this series. As you know, Civilization's turns are played in a turn-based manner, meaning each player has enough time to execute their ideas, while in Ara: History Untold, those same turns will be played simultaneously among all players.

As in Civilization, in Ara: History Untold we will build our civilization through long periods of history, and the gameplay will focus on discovering new lands, developing culture, arts, and strategically planned diplomacy. With familiar and innovative gameplay mechanics, this title, as promised by the developers, offers an evolution of historical grand strategy, not presenting predetermined paths to victory and endless possibilities. The choices you make will define the world you create, the gameplay experience, and the legacy.

Taking on the roles of the most influential historical figures, you can rule as Queen Nefertiti of Egypt, Sappho of Greece, George Washington of the United States, or create your own custom leaders. The land serves as a canvas for constructing various buildings, from forges to libraries, citadels, and cathedrals, each providing strategic bonuses and abilities. Additionally, researching diverse technologies unlocks new resources, improvements, goods, and equipment, weaving a future of infinite possibilities.

What particularly stands out is that key resources can be found in procedurally generated environments, offering unique challenges and endless replayability, as no two games will be the same. It is likely that a map seed will be used, although this has not been fully confirmed yet.
