During the Nordic Game Spring 2024, numerous indie games were showcased, but About Cannons & Sparrows stood out with its unique character design, puzzles, and visuals, which is being developed by About Cannons & Sparrows Creative Studio.
About Cannons & Sparrows is a side-scrolling, physics-based puzzle platformer with Metroidvania elements and a strong story focus. You play as a small cannon hatched from a bird’s egg, discovering its abilities while navigating a forest threatened by machines and cannonballs. The cannon must overcome the distrust of forest inhabitants and find ways to stop the destruction, using innovative puzzles and skills like pipe recoil for speed boosts or balancing on ropes with tiny wheels.The game provides a cinematic experience with captivating storytelling. You will engage in challenging battles, navigate intricate levels, and control a unique and agile character who can run, jump, and dash through four distinct biomes. The character’s abilities evolve with new movement and combat techniques, such as flying with wooden wings. Tough fights require both strategy and skill, especially when facing formidable bosses that push the character’s newly acquired abilities to their limits.

About Cannons & Sparrows is the creation of three founders: Niko Tziopanos, Daniel Balzer, and Martin Hess. With over 20 years of experience as award-winning creatives in feature films, broadcast design, branding, TV commercials, and conventions, they bring a wealth of expertise to the game. Their creative studio specializes in moving images, interactive design, and game development, making this transition into game creation a natural extension of their talents.
Although there is still no specific release date, during the mentioned event we had the opportunity to play a demo version of this game, which means we can expect it soon. Additionally, About Cannons & Sparrows will be available on PC via Steam.
